Weber Performer 22.5" Charcoal Grill Review

by Deborah Berry

My husband and I went back and forth when it came time to buy a new grill. We knew it would be a Weber, because of the quality....and my husband enjoys the high end Weber that his father owns and uses.

HOWEVER, we both were not so sure we wanted to go with an LP system, because we both still like the quality of taste one gets with using an old fashion charcoal grill. Granted, using a charcoal grill, you could get a pretty cheap grill and it would do it job, but we have small kids, and they just don't seem to be that safe being supported usually with a tripod 3 leg system.

It was a great find to see that Weber offered a charcoal grill that is housed in a more stable support stand and work station, but the clincher was the fact that it also came with its own "Touch-N-Go" gas ignition system.

Not only did this make it much easier to light, but we didn't have to deal with the scare of the canned fluid that just about any man thinks they need to use a gallon of to start a fire, when all it does when you do it that way, is create a Hiroshima sized rising ball of flame that singes your eyebrows and anyone else that is standing anywhere near it AND promised that your food will only taste like lighter fluid! not good, not good at all! so, we decided with very little debate to go ahead and buy the Weber performer charcoal grill (in green!)

I will say that we have heard from a couple of people that we could have found an off brand LP grill for that price, but we would just let that go in one ear and out the other, because nothing beats the flavor and ease we get by using this grill, and with the peace of mind that it is a quality made item that will last season after season season! Not to forget that it does not worry me one bit about its stability because it sits in its own LP grill like base and i LOVE the very size of the very ample work station!!!

So, for the ease of lighting, the stability of its frame, the good old fashion flavor you get with the use of charcoal (and yes, we almost always add a pan of flavored woods in water to impart an extra layer of flavor in our cooked meats/apple wood is the BEST and the knowledge that we have a grill that will last for many a summer to come...we have to highly recommend this grill to anyone that is leaning on the same issues we were when we were looking for our grill!
