Weber Go Anywhere Grill

The Weber Go Anywhere Gas Grill is convenient and fun. Take it camping, tailgating or anywhere you want to prepare food. There is quite a large cooking area for such a compact grill… you can easily fit four medium sized steaks on at the same time. The push button ignition makes it easy to grill anywhere, any time.

This Weber portable grill contains Weber's patented Flavorizer bar to ensure even cooking. The lid locks easily in place with the legs so you can carry this grill around with one hand. A built in lid holder makes it easy to know where to put the hot lid while you are checking on your food.

The lid can also be used as a wind barrier. The steel grate is coated with triple nickel platings to make it easy to clean.

What We Like

The Weber Go Anywhere Gas Grill is easy to assemble. This grill works great for slow cooking tasks like ribs. If you preheat the grill for ten minutes and add a few wood chips, you can get a nice flavor to your food.

The grill holds up for several years and is easy to clean. It takes up very little space in storage. It is easy to pack up to take to the beach or the park.

With a little patience, this grill does a great job at grilling fish, sausages and other items. The porcelain enamel coating protects this grill from rust and decay.

What We Don't Like

The Weber Go Anywhere Gas Grill has some issues with the ignition system. The combustion tube has the ability to swing from one side to another, which varies the distance between the igniter wire and the tube. This makes using the ignition system a hit or miss. There are some heating issues.

The propane doesn't get hot enough to finish cooking. The heat is uneven. The smallest breeze will put out the flame, leaving you to wonder if it still exists or if you are wasting your propane.

Gas can accumulate inside the grill, creating a good sized fireball when you ignite it. This is a serious danger. The Flavorizer bar wears out quickly, and instead of vaporizing drippings, it can allow drippings to accumulate and start a fire that might get hot enough to explode the propane tank.

The 14 ounce canisters of propane that this grill is designed for are difficult to find. The handles get hot.

Weber Gas Grill Features

  • Portable propane grill
  • Easy push button ignition system
  • Pivoting legs lock to keep lid in place for added safety
  • Cooking grate is triple nickel plated for easy cleaning
  • 160 square inches of cooking space

Summary

The Weber Go Anywhere Grill does okay as a portable gas grill. There are a lot more problems with it than with the charcoal version. It does not get as hot as the charcoal grill, and there are major safety issues with the ignition system.

This grill can turn out some great food once you get to know its idiosyncrasies, but if you prefer a grill that performs the way you want, get the charcoal version.
