Weber Genesis Silver Review

by Justin Botter
(San Antonio, TX)

During a move, my old grill fell off the back of our truck, shattering into many unusable pieces, forcing me to go out and purchase a new grill. After a recommendation from one of my friends (he's a Weber fanatic, his current Weber is over ten years old and still looks brand new), I purchased a Weber Genesis grill from Home Depot for $199.99. I've had the Weber grill for almost four years now.

Unlike other grills I've owned in the past, the Weber has not rusted out, it consistently lights up and distributes the heat evenly throughout the grill. The grill is able to reach temperatures in the 600-700 degrees range but tends to take a while to get there. It normally heats to 400-500 degrees within five to ten minutes (which is perfect for searing steaks). The grill also came with a warming shelf, that tends to get in the way, I removed mine- it didn't really serve much of a purpose for my family.

With other grills, I've had a problem with flare-ups, this has never been an issue with the Weber.

Although I haven't made a purchase from the Weber website yet, I like the fact that I can replace my current grill components with stainless steel or just replace any pieces that happen to go bad.

The only complaint I have, is that the genesis silver is too small for my needs. I should have purchased a larger model. With any luck this summer, I'll be able to upgrade to a larger model, then I'll just keep the smaller model for grilling up a steak or two.

I would definitely recommend the Weber grill to anyone looking to make a grill purchase, I'm sure you will be satisfied with your new Weber grill for years to come.
