Coleman Party Grill

The Coleman Party Grill is easy. It is easy to assemble, easy to dismantle, easy to carry and easy to cook with. It is reliable and portable. It is a great solution for tailgating, fishing trips, camping, and day trips.

You can use it for grilling or boiling up a kettle of corn on the cob. It easily cooks burgers, steaks, chicken or fish. For camping, use the small solid portion of the grill as a griddle for eggs or bacon.

Varying temperatures makes it easy to cook in the center and keep things warm on the edges. Assembly is fast with no tools required. All parts except the burner/valve assembly are dishwasher safe for easy cleaning.

What We Like

The Coleman Party Grill is portable and compact. The legs fit right inside it for storage and it is easy to clean. Assembly takes only a couple of minutes. It may take a few tries to get used to where the hot and cold areas are.

It is great for boiling water or heating soup. It works well for Korean barbecue where all your morsels are cut into bite size pieces and steamed before dipping and eating.

You do need to keep a close eye on your food to prevent burning. It is great for traveling.

What We Don't Like

Other than being a rather small grill, the major drawback to this grill would have to be how the grill heats. With the heat source in the center the grill does not distribute heat evenly over the grilling area surface.

What Consumers Are Saying

  • The grill feels flimsy
  • The legs are difficult if not impossible to remove once they are installed
  • Like most electronic ignition systems, it is hit or miss
  • It does not cook evenly or thoroughly

Grill Features

  • Detachable legs fit inside the grill for transport
  • Lightweight, easy to carry
  • 8000 BTU burner system
  • Instastart ignition system
  • Easy to clean; dishwasher safe except for the burner/valve assembly and lid

Summary

The Coleman Party Grill has the usual problems that many gas grills share. The electronic ignition system is its weakest point. It often fails and you need to light it manually. If you can deal with this, it is just a question of learning to cook within the limitations of this grill. It is very small.

If you need to cook for more than a couple people, you may need more grilling power. It makes a great burner for boiling water or using a frying pan. This alone may make it worthwhile depending upon your needs.
