CharBroil Electric Smoker

The CharBroil electric smoker can smoke up to 50 pounds of meat or fish at the same time. It is useful all year round, so you can make your holiday turkey extra memorable with this cooker.

This smoker heats quickly, but uses a moist smoky low heat, producing mouthwatering meals. The smoky steam penetrates the meat, tenderizing and adding delicious flavor. The water pan holds 6 quarts, so you don't need to attend to it every ten minutes. It is easy to use, even for beginners.

What We Like

The smoker is well constructed of heavy materials. There are a few tips to try to create some memorable meals with the Char Broil electric smoker. After filling the water pan, cover it with heavy duty foil to prevent the liquid from evaporating too quickly. This will also reduce the amount of steam inside the smoker, so your meat gets smoked, not steamed.

You can pull out the heating element and use charcoal briquettes or wood and grill your dinner if you choose. The price is reasonable. It doesn't take much work to use this smoker. It can also be used as an electric grill.

What We Don't Like

The Char Broil electric smoker doesn't heat up well unless it is plugged directly into the outlet. If you use an extension cord, make sure it is a heavy duty cord. It should have a vent on the lid, and it needs a drainage hole at the bottom.

More air intake vents around the burner casing would also help. The thermostat is made of plastic, and may burn out on you after a few uses. It has a hard time holding temperature if it is cold or windy. The paint peels off the inside fairly quickly, which leads to rust, especially with all the moisture inside. The limited durability may be a deal breaker. If you have your lower rack full of food, it is difficult to refill the water pan.

Summary

The Char Broil electric smoker is reasonably priced (around a $100.00 bucks) for a smoker. It works well for some people, serving them for many years. Others have problems with the equipment after only a few uses. If you've got the money to spend and it won't be devastating if problems occur, go ahead and give it a try.

It may turn out to work well. If you don't have the money to possibly lose, look for something else. If you have had good results from other Char Broil products, you may want to give it a try. If you're new to smoking food, this Charbroil water smoker may be a good way to get started.
