Char Broil Quantum Series 5

by Amit
(Pennsylvania)

I bought this Char-Broil grill for my brother in law, it was his wedding and wanted to get him a nice gift from the registry. I found the grill for cheaper than on his registry at Lowe's so got it from there. After using the grill myself at his house I have to say this grill was not worth the price I paid for it. There are far many better grills on the market than this one, so look else where before coming to Char Broil.

I'll start with the cons of the grill, since I ranted about them first. The engineering on this grill is plain awful. On the very first use, I was grilling burgers, let the grill get hot then when I went to turn down the heat I realized the inside portion of the plastic knobs had melted from the heat! When my brother in law went to contact Char Broil on their website, lo and behold their website doesn't work. They couldn't find my SKU number in their database, he even refreshed the page multiple times but that did not work either.

There are positives to the grill however. The body is made from a beautiful stainless steel and simply looks classy at first glance. It fits in anyone's back yard. The grill was advertised with a cool infrared cooking system. Surprisingly it is not a gimmick and works fairly well. I made chicken thighs and they were cooked evenly all the way through. I thought this was a plus to have on the grill for all the times you want your meat to cook evenly without having to turn it.

All said, I do not think I will recommend this grill. I have my own Weber that I love. If everyone went out and bought a Weber you could see what true grilling would be like. Charbroil I guess serves the purpose, but it truly is sub par to their Weber counterpart.
